Situated between the Matterhorn and the Mont Blanc mountains, Veysonnaz boasts one of the largest ski areas in Europe as it is an integral part of the extensive Four Valleys ski area. Incomparable skiing can be enjoyed in winter – skiing from Veysonnaz to Verbier through Nendaz with more than 100 ski lifts and 400 km of pistes at between 1 300 and 3 300 metres. A ski pass can be bought for the whole Four Valleys area or for specific sections. Residence Bellevue is located in the centre of Veysonnaz, a mere 50 m from the cable car station and 100 m from the Veysonnaz tourism office (where ski instructors from the Swiss Ski School can be arranged). The immediate ski region Printze includes 43 ski runs of a total length of 175 km (30% easy, 60% intermediate and 10% difficult), a snow park and halfpipe. There are 32 km cross-country ski tracks in the region, and winter hiking trails of 40 km. Other attractions include: moonlight skiing, snowmobiling, hiking with snowshoes, paragliding, dog sledding, and a wellness centre and indoor swimming-pool.

Veysonnaz also makes an ideal summer resort with over 300 km of hiking trails through the forests and mountains following the “bisses” (artificial streams). Alternatively, with the many excellent golf courses in nearby resorts, tennis courts, climbing, 70 km of mountain bike tracks, horse riding, paragliding, fishing, a Wellness Centre and swimming-pool, and other activities available, one need never feel bored. Summer skiing and guided walking tours are available at the Mont-Fort glazier, Verbier.

The region has been a centre for growing vines and wine-making since before Roman times. The vineyards of the Valais region are between Loèche and Martigny, on the banks of the Rhone. The wine area makes up almost 40% of the total area of vineyards in Switzerland. Every true Valaisian has his little vine plot, thus the 12 500 acres of vineyards are shared between almost 20 000 owners. These small vineyards have been described as “ascending to heaven”. This is as a result of the hilly vineyards overhanging one another, clinging to the terrace above and appearing to be suspended from the sky. The different altitudes are marked by a mosaic of soils and exposures, offering the vines a fabulous diversity of sites. Cellar visits and wine-tasting sessions are available all year round. Other local speciality events include bread-making in the village oven and cheese-making on Alpine farms, all of which reveal some of the culture, gastronomy and traditions of Veysonnaz.

Even the most demanding youngster cannot fail to be satisfied by the wide range of activities and events. These include open-air sports activities such as rollerblades, mountain biking, wall climbing, horse riding and volleyball, and for those who like to be organised Veysonnaz’s Sun and Fun Club runs from the end of June to the end of August.

Wellness Centre
Veysonnaz’s Wellness Centre is the perfect place for some well-deserved pampering after a hard day’s skiing on the pistes or hiking in the hills. When you consider that Veysonnaz is one of Switzerland ’s smaller ski resorts – and all the more charming for that – its health and fitness centre is a pretty impressive place, with a first-class range of facilities including sauna, solarium, massage, a jacuzzi and indoor swimming-pool. The Wellness Centre is open to visitors from 15:00 to 23:00 in winter (except Saturdays), and from 11:00 to 19:00 in summer (every day).
